A psychologist on Twitter? It’s true!

Is Dr. Leah, aka The Sanity Fairy, the first real psychologist on Twitter?

After searching for psychologists on Twitter, Dr. Phil was the only name that came up.

But he is not a real psychologist, in case you didn’t know. Alas, Dr. Phil does not have a license to practice. He’s an entertainer.

So, I persuaded Dr. Leah to join Twitter — and she’s hooked!

Dr. Leah says that she likes Twitter because she’s fascinated by what people chose to share in 140 characters or less. Some “tweets” are profound, others sad, and some actually newsworthy.

Sure, there’s a lot of “mommy talk,” like what you ate for breakfast or the latest cure for a nagging cold. But, as humans, don’t we all want to be heard and understood?

Where else is a psychologist who offers advice and solutions to single parents going to find up to the second information about what’s really on your mind?

We wonder how many real psychologists are on Twitter. There are plenty of “counselors,” but Dr. Leah is the only one with a real with a doctorate and license as a psychologist — which she earned, by the way, while parenting her two young children solo.

Dr. Leah is in private practice in New York. She specializes in working with families during and after divorce. She conducts child custody evaluations, provides expert testimony, and consults in child custody cases.

And now Dr. Leah is on Twitter! One of Dr. Leah’s colleagues — clearly impressed — even asked her recently asked for a Twitter tutorial.

So, if you have a quick question, please Tweet Dr. Leah here at Singlemommyhood!

    Great question Angela! Thanks!

Dr. Leah and I put singlemommyhood on Twitter (I kind of helped you, right Dr. Leah?)

Yes, we co-founded this blog together… but Dr. Leah is in charge of the Singlemommyhood “Tweets.”

All of the “Twitter” comments on “the hood” go directly to Dr. Leah — so feel free to dive in!

http://www.solo-dad.com just posed a question that Dr. Leah will address soon.

Thanks for giving us the chance to clarify.

Twitter has its place, but it can also be bad for you, taking you out of the present moment.

That said, have fun with it!

  4. Angela: Yes, thank you for a great question. Let me set the record straight. Rachel gave me major help; I was utterly clueless.

Quickly, however, I became the official singlemommyhood “tweeter”.

  5. Another first?!…

    Does Dr. Leah ever stop?!…

Seriously though, good luck Leah. All the best!
