Do you have a crush on Obama?

We do.

No, we’re not talking about a tasteless, sensual crush like Ms. Amber Lee Ettinger, a.k.a Obama Girl.

We’re talking about a real genuine admiration for Obama-The-Thinker.

You might recall when the U.S. News & World Report said that Obama “seems too good to be true” — and referred to him as “a man of consistency, character and a few rough edges in a world of contradiction, lies and conformity.”

That’s what we’re talking about.

Let’s face it, as single parents, we aim to be consistent. We strive to raise solid, intelligent, healthy human beings in this rough world.

As single parents, we’re used to doing all the thinking, the planning, the weighing of all the ramifications. That’s why we’re thrilled about today.

We launched Singlemommyhood on Thanksgiving Day — just two months ago — because we wanted to build a community of mothers and fathers.

Thank you so much for making this happen!

I am thrilled about today and so glad to be able to witness this moment in history. I look forward to seeing the man in action and the positive changes he will make for the good of our country.

He is the epitome of a good man to me. He’s down to earth, compassionate, level headed, cautious; yet calm, sauve and elegant all rolled into one. He’s committed to his family and seems to have the utmost respect and regard for his wife and for all women. He genuinely cares about the middle class and he definitely “gets it.”

I absolutely adore him, and am thrilled that he’s going to be our Commander-in-Chief. His multi-culturalism gives him a unique perspective, and because of him I am hopeful for positive changes in the nation, as well as improved race relations worldwide.

I have a confession to make. I had never even heard of Barack Obama until you, Rachel, talked about the running mate who was from a single mother home. At the time I was so completely done with politics, knowing nothing I thought and felt would matter in the upcoming elections.

You talked about him and I was intrigued. I went and picked up Audacity of Hope and read it in an afternoon. I was so filled with hope, so inspired. I know that sounds cliche after his slogans, but that’s what it was.

I have been a supporter and admirer ever since. For the first time I volunteered during both elections. I also bought a few more books and handed them out to people I knew who were on the fence still.

It’s a wonderful day and start of change I am very much looking forward to!

I watched the 2004 Democratic Convention; it was the first time I learned of President Barack Obama and heard him speak.

His speech that night was, in my opinion, his best speech to date. If you did not hear that speech I strongly suggest you YouTube it.

It was incredible and I became a fan of him then and continue to be in awe of him, his wife and their family.

Today is a great day of change.

I have a big, huge, over the top crush on Obama. And while I am thrilled that he is President, what really makes me happy is seeing the Obama family as the First Family. I think to will do a lot to change the stereotypes many people have of black American families.

We'd love to hear from YOU
