We’re always honored to hear from so many of you. We recently received this email, and it was just too wonderful not to share.

In case you didn’t know, Dr. Leah co-authored The Complete Single Mother, which is the best selling self-help book ever written for single parents. Here’s an excerpt from The Complete Single Mother about visualizing  your place in “the real world:”

“If you’re 38, have two left feet, and never took a dance class in your life, becoming a prima ballerina doesn’t look too promising. Yet, if you visualize people, applause, and emotion, the stage may be a very important in your vision. Try taking a music class, going to more concerns or ballets, or writing that play that’s been in your head for years. Prepare to be surprised by what you find out about yourself.”

So, this email we got from Marilyn began:

“The Complete Single Mother saved me! Thank you! Thank You! I’m 30 and too old to ever become a ballerina – but I recently was talking to my daughter’s ballet teacher about my love of dancing, and some ideas I’ve had. Her teacher has agreed to teach me some basics. In return, I’m writing  a libretto about a favorite female historical character of mine.We already have a composer who will set it to music — and then we’ll choreograph it together.”

“There are still days at the beach with my daughter when all I can see are ‘happy families’ and I tear up inside,” Marilyn continued. “But when I imagine being offered a bunch of flowers on Opening Night, and my kid saying proudly, ‘That’s my mom,’ my tears are sweet rather than bitter.”

You can see why Marilyn’s note got us emotional. Congrats to Marilyn, pictured here! (Please send us pictures of Opening Night!)

I got teary-eyed from the blog. Yes, I’m that big of a sap!

I sent Dr. Leah’s book to my cousin right after her divorce was final. Her mom told me she spent the entire night reading it.
