Dads, we’re wishing you a Happy Valentine’s Day

We’re honored that SO many dads – single AND married - have joined us @Singlemommyhood.
If you haven’t checked out these “daddy blogs” yet… please do!
Happy Valentine’s Day to these special men in the spirit of what guides us here: friendship.
- We been following Bruce Sallan for a while now because he’s our dad blogging colleague at MomLogic, as “Just Another Guy.” But only recently did we get the chance to connect with you, Bruce, in real life (via cell phone on your way to ski!). Your heartful writing about being a remarried solo dad of two teenage boys continues to impress us.
- If you haven’t read any of Fred’s — aka Full Custody Dad — thoughtful, practical comments here, you will soon enough. We are so grateful when you chime in on everything from spending the holidays with your ex to co-parenting without hating it. Thank you!
- When Travis at Culminating Life isn’t making us laugh, he’s making us think. Travis, thanks for writing so openly about love, family, and what it means to be father. We’ll be thinking about you on Valentine’s Day as you celebrate with the new special woman in your life!
- Oh, Big City Dad, thank you for showing up here so often and giving such right-on advice to other single moms and dads. Your recent comments on our post “Where’s My Mommy?” really show what a feeling, sensitive father you are. And funny, too! You really got us recently with your post on getting married to the perfect woman.
- Canadian Bald Guy’s recent post about getting his divorce papers in the mail kind of sums up whey we adore him: CBG, you really show that it’s possible to be a great dad, have an amicable relationship with your ex…. and fall in love again! We’re cheering you on!
- One of the things we love about John at Single Parent Travel is the fact that he stretches himself to do good for others (and, yes, he’s a divorced dad with three kids, so you know he has a lot on his plate already!) This week, he told us about helping a colleague of his, who’s about to set off on a cruise — the Oasis of the Seas on October 30, 2010 — as a fundraiser for “Save The Tatas“ (breast cancer). There’s room for YOU on that boat. Check it out!
- We are simply in awe of you, Crazy Computer Dad! We’ve watched you go all out for your son, as you write openly and honestly about raising a child with Asperger’s. To catch up our readers, CCD — who has primary custody of his son — has gone many extra miles (for the past eight years!) to get support in his son’s school. His son finished his recent school year on the Honor Roll. Yes!
Please join us here to offer special Valentine’s Day wishes to these dads! We’d love to hear why you adore these guys, too.
And please let us know about any dad bloggers whom we’ve got to follow! If you have any recommendations about others, leave their URLs here. Thanks.

Oh, congrats to our Dove chocolate winners!… Jerry, Travis, Jen, and Geniene. Enjoy!

Wow, Dr. Leah and Rachel, I’m blushing. Feeling is mutual. I’m especially pleased after returning from the ER where my son broke his arm on his FIRST run of the season this morning! Amazing. There’s a story in it all. Can’t wait to do the radio show demo with you Rachel! A pleasure to know you both!

Leah and Rachel,
Thanks SO much for mentioning me on Valentines Day and for being such great examples as single parents. I ventured into the online single parent community as a lurker and got totally sucked in. The support, advice, and empathy I’ve seen and received has been just amazing. A whole new group of friends I never knew about. Unbelievable. We are so lucky to have each other. Keep up the great work on Singlemommyhood.com. You two are just fantastic.

My son is turning 13 in May and day by day I get a little more aggravated at how much more we seem to be arguing….so I’m not feeling like a good father right now at all…but my son is growing and learning a little more each day and I am certainly proud of what he is accomplishing!
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY TO YOU TOO! I’m very honored to be mentioned here. I would have chimed in earlier, but I’ve been completely unplugged the last few days. I have been having some romantic time with my girlfriend. At least as romantic as being in a house with four other couples, my son and four other children at a ski resort in West Virginia can be.
